A History of Music in Western Culture is the more academic of the two books.  It is written for music majors.

Listen to This is a book for readers who want to explore the history of Western music (art and pop) without necessarily possessing the technical and logistical skills required of music majors.  I’ve read the entire book, and I can assure you that everything in Listen to This is explained and analyzed with a clarity that most academic textbooks sadly lack.

Both books feature details about me and my life experiences and my musical career.  Both books feature a recording* and analysis of my composition “On This Date Every Year.”  A History of Music in Western Culture also includes the musical score.

Chapter 60 from LISTEN TO THIS

I’m delighted to be included in these two textbooks.  I welcome correspondence from any and all readers who wish to be in touch with me.

*The recording used in A History of Music in Western Culture and Listen to This — it is the same recording — is edited, produced, and mastered by Corey Dargel.  It features performances by Cornelius Dufallo (violin and digital looping) and Corey Dargel (vocals).
